5 Rowan go find the Printing Press for their Saga!

Today, in 2 groups, we walked down to the Blackmore Vale Press in order to see how they are going to print our book!
On arrival we meet Lewis Hamilton and had our picture taken...
Then it was on to the printing press...

First they make a plate for each of the colours- black, blue, yellow and red.

Then the plates are put in this amazing machine!

All of this is controlled by computer, printing 14000 sheets an hour!

Next, it is on to the guillotine ...

Finally it is put on a saddle, stapled and folded.

There was also the huge machine that prints the Blackmore Vale magazine each week on a continuous roll of paper - Emily said enthusiastically, " It's like a giant roll of toilet paper!" What do you think?

Finally we were each given a wordsearch book to take home.

A very big thank you for the Blackmore Vale for having us and don't forget to watch this space to see our Viking Saga coming soon!
